Thirty-eight Grand Valley students received awards from the
Michigan Campus Compact for their dedication and commitment to
community service during the 15th annual Outstanding Student Service
Awards, held April 9 in Lansing. More than 350 students from 38
campuses received awards.
Jarrett Martus, Student Senate president, received the
Commitment to Service Award, which recognizes the dedication to
community involvement of students in Michigan; 45 students received
the award.
The Heart and Soul Award, which recognizes students for their
time, effort and personal commitment to their communities through
service, was given to Petra Alsoofy, Bilquis Alsoofy, Kaifa Alsoofy,
Megan Beste, Carter Brown, Marada Chau, Angela Cluley, Katherine
Costello, Kelsie Layne Crawford, Terry Davis, Laura Dean, Aaron
Ducharme, Alec Gilbert, Justin Gray, Alyse Griffis, Kristen Hansen,
Nakeita Harriss, Ann Hartlieb, Nicole Hollebrands, Lindsay Holmes,
Cory Jackson, Phoebe James, Megan Kissane, Tiffany Korican, Joshua
Lee, Elizabeth McInnis, Nathan Noll, Meredith Osborne, Ben Pohl,
Clamika Prince, Rachel Shinsky, Caitlin Stoltman, Brittany Thorp,
Kathryn Tippett, Susana Villagomez, Raymond Yeow, and Michael Zervos.
Michigan Campus Compact
is a coalition of college and university presidents committed to
fulfilling the public purpose of higher education. It promotes the
education and commitment of Michigan college students to be civically
engaged citizens, through creating and expanding academic,
co-curricular and campus-wide opportunities for community service,
service-learning and civic engagement.
