Grand Valley was named one of the country’s most environmentally
responsible colleges by The Princeton Review for the second year in a
row. Grand Valley is included in “The
Princeton Review’s Guide to 311 Green Colleges: 2011 Edition.”
The guide focuses on higher education institutions that have
demonstrated an above average commitment to sustainability in campus
infrastructure, activities and initiatives. Areas of evaluation
included the institution’s commitment to building at LEED standards,
sustainability committees, environmental literacy programs, the use of
renewable energy resources and recycling and conservation programs.
“Being named a ‘Green College’ further helps position Grand
Valley as a leader in sustainability and demonstrates the progress
we’re making,” said Wendy Wenner, dean of the Brooks College of
Interdisciplinary Studies at Grand Valley. “It also shows how students
are making a huge impact on the university's success and accomplishments.”
