Six Grand Valley students received scholarships to study abroad
during the 2011-2012 academic year.
The Barbara H. Padnos Scholarship provides funding for students
to spend at least two semesters in a host country. Students must have
a minimum GPA of 3.0. The students, their majors and hometowns, and
where they will study are listed below.
Elizabeth Burkum, a Russian studies and French double major from
Grand Rapids, will study in Russia; Megan Carter, an advertising and
public relations major from Southfield, will study in France; Alyse
Griffis, a biology major from Detroit, will study in Australia; Jared
Kohler, an international relations major from Williamsburg, will study
in Syria; Rebecca Owen, an English major from Jenison, will study in
Japan; and Alexandra Spurlock, a political science major from
Birmingham, will study in Russia.
