Steinman appointed to Nature Conservancy board

Alan Steinman, director of Grand Valley State University’s Annis Water Resources Institute, has been appointed as a member of the Michigan Board of Trustees of The Nature Conservancy.

Steinman will serve a three-year term, with a possibility of two additional terms. He was sought out by the board to replace a retiring trustee with a strong scientific background.

“I am honored to join The Nature Conservancy’s Michigan Board of Trustees,” Steinman said. “TNC is world renowned for its unique abilities to protect ecologically important lands and waters for both people and nature, and it is exciting and inspiring to be involved as a new strategy to protect the Great Lakes is implemented.”

Steinman has served as director at AWRI for 10 years; He will stay in this role while serving as a trustee for TNC.
