The Sustainable Agricultural Project, formally the Community
Garden, and Farm Club are hosting a dinner and benefit on Thursday,
March 3, at the Eberhard Center on the Pew Campus. Guests can arrive
at 5 p.m. and dinner begins at 6 p.m.
The event, “Down on the Farm,” will feature a discussion by Mike
Hamm, a professor from the C.S. Mott Group for Sustainable Food
Systems at Michigan State University, on the importance of sustainable
agriculture and how it applies to Grand Valley.
Proceeds from the event will go toward funding the 2011 growing
season for the SAP, which is located next to the Allendale Campus. The
SAP began with a group of students in 2008 and has expanded to include
a variety of different initiatives that provide hands on learning
opportunities for people who are interested in learning about
sustainable food systems and organic farming practices.
To register for the event, visit www.gvsu.edu/sustainableagproject.
Tickets are $30 for community members and $10 for students.
