Grand Valley students, faculty, staff and community members were
celebrated and recognized for their sustainable efforts at the
Sustainability Champions Awards Breakfast, an event that marked the
start of Campus Sustainability
Week at Grand Valley, which runs through October 23.
President Thomas J. Haas, Student Senate President Natalie
Cleary, Grand Rapids Mayor George Heartwell and Brooks College of
Interdisciplinary Studies Dean Wendy Wenner spoke about the importance
of continuing to grow sustainable practices at Grand Valley and in
Grand Rapids.
“Prospective students are making their choices on which
university to attend based on examples of sustainable practices,” said
Wenner. “Our campus community is a model for what we can do when we
collaborate across all sectors.”
