Grand Valley volunteers are needed to lend hands during United
Way's Day of Caring on Friday, September 9.
Coordinated by the Community Service Learning Center, members of
the campus community are invited to participate at one of three sites,
detailed below:
Morning projects, 9 a.m.-noon
• Grounds work at Blanford Nature Center, 1715 Hillburn Ave.,
Grand Rapids. Crews will be needed to clear viewing areas and build
platforms along trails for photography or trail maintenance. Grand
Valley will provide gloves and other tools, supplies provided by the
site. 12 GVSU volunteers are needed; transportation will be provided
to this site.
• Stuff the Bus at Hillcrest School, 1300 Lyon St., Grand
Rapids. Volunteers will sort school supplies collected through the
Stuff the Bus project and sort them into boxes for distribution to
schools. Staff will be on hand to organize project and assist
volunteers. Four volunteers are needed. Transportation will not be
provided to this site.
Afternoon project, 1:30-4:30 p.m.
• Celebration on the Grand, volunteers needed to help with
registration, event setup/delivery at Rosa Park Circle and Ah-Nab-Awen Park in Grand Rapids. 12 volunteers
needed; transportation will be provided for this site.
