Wesorick gives Meijer Lecture, meets with students

Prior to giving a Frederik Meijer Lecture presentation, Bonnie Wesorick met with nursing students and asked them why they chose to become a healer.

Their answers were poignant and compassionate, characteristics that Wesorick said will benefit them during their careers.

"You are entering health care at this hard time, with the economy and with the challenges health care is facing," Wesorick said on November 7 at the Cook-DeVos Center for Health Sciences. "We're going to need you as young leaders to help change the health care system."

Wesorick is founder and chair emerita of the Clinical Practice Model Resource Center in Grand Rapids. The CPM framework supports the patient, family, community and caregiver to advance the practice of care.

More than 300 people attended Wesorick's evening presentation at the Eberhard Center. The next presentation scheduled for the Meijer Lecture series will also focus on health care. Barbara Pierce Bush will discuss global health care on February 27.
