Wendy Jo Carlton, an alumna of Grand Valley’s School of
Communications, is an award-winning filmmaker and writer with
experience in film, television, radio and multi-media production. Her
two-day visit to classes, including screenings and discussion of two
of her films, are co-sponsored by GVSU’s School of Communications and
the GVSU LGBT Center. Film discussions with Carlton will follow the screenings.
Her film “Jamie and Jessie Are Not Together” (full length
feature, 2011, directed by Carlton) will be shown Tuesday, October 23,
6 p.m., room 174 Lake Superior Hall, Allendale Campus.
The feature film “Hannah Free” (directed by Carlton, produced by
Ripe Fruit Films, LCC) will have a free public showing Wednesday,
October 24, from 6-9 p.m., Grand River Room #2250, Kirkhof Center,
Allendale Campus.
Carlton’s works have screened internationally, including The
American Film Institute, PBS, Outfest Los Angeles, Seattle
International Film Festival, Athens International Film Festival, Women
in the Director’s Chair, and the Vancouver, London, Chicago, Austin
and San Francisco Lesbian Gay Film Festival.
Seating for the film screenings is open to the public, but the
