Farm Club organizes Planting Party
Students and staff members gathered at the Sustainable Agriculture
Project May 25 to help plant summer crops, including tomatoes,
pumpkins, summer squash and peppers. The day was organized by the
student group Farm Club and the produce will be sold on campus this summer.
The Grand Valley Sustainable
Agriculture Project is a collaboration between students, faculty
and staff members to experience sustainable agriculture. The project
has been operating since 2008 and has expanded over the past few
years. The project includes plants that grow outdoors and inside of a
hoop house, which is an unheated structure that measures 30 feet by 72
feet and is covered in two layers of plastic to help extend the
growing season.
