Fellowships office to hold study abroad scholarship info session

Students planning to study abroad in 2013 or 2014 can learn more about a competitive scholarship opportunity that can help fund their trip at an information session hosted by the Frederik Meijer Office of Fellowships on November 6.

The workshop will focus on details of the Gilman Scholarship, an award that’s been earned by 28 Grand Valley students since January 2011, providing more than $100,000 in aid for their studies.

The information session will be held from noon until 1 p.m. on Tuesday, November 6 and Wednesday, November 7 in 130 Lake Ontario Hall.

The Gilman Scholarship Information Sessions are opportunities for eligible students to learn about the application process and connect with resources including fellowship advisors in the Frederik Meijer Office of Fellowships who can support them through the application process.

Eligible students planning to study abroad summer 2013, fall 2013, or academic year 2013-14 should plan to apply for the GVSU campus deadline February 26, 2013.

The Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program is open to all U.S. citizen undergraduates, in good academic standing, who are Pell-grant eligible and will be studying in one country for four consecutive weeks.

Gilman Scholarship recipients can only receive the scholarship once. If a student previously declined the Gilman Scholarship, they are welcome to re-apply, as long as they still meet all eligibility requirements.

Full award details are available at www.iie.org/gilman .
