Grand Valley named Newsmaker of the Year

Grand Valley State University was named Newsmaker of the Year by the Grand Rapids Business Journal. Grand Valley was recognized for its impact on the West Michigan economy through two construction projects, the Mary Idema Pew Library Learning & Information Commons and the L. William Seidman Center.

Provost Gayle Davis attended the award luncheon January 23, of the Economic Club of Grand Rapids at the JW Marriott. “I was honored to accept the award on behalf of Grand Valley,” said Davis. “The students and professionals attracted to Grand Valley’s programs continue to have a positive impact our economic vitality. Our thousands of alumni contribute to area companies, schools and hospitals, and our SmartZones contribute to job creation and innovation.”

Grand Valley was selected from 10 finalists including DeVos Children’s Hospital, Locus Development, Gordon Food Service, Colliers International, ArtPrize, The Gallery, Grand Rapids Black Chamber of Commerce, Cascade Engineering, and Advanced Energy Storage.
