A major nonprofit industry management group is partnering with Grand Valley State University’s Johnson Center for Philanthropy to bring a national conference to Grand Rapids.

The Alliance for Nonprofit Management conference is the only national conference collaboratively designed by and for nonprofit capacity builders, academics, and funders with the intent to advance nonprofit practices.

Alliance for Nonprofit Management 2012 Annual Conference

August 8-10, JW Marriott Hotel

Grand Rapids, Mich.

A number of nationally known thought leaders, authors, and speakers will present, including Jeanne Bell, CEO of CompassPoint Nonprofit Services; Peter York, TCC Group; David Renz, Midwest Center for Nonprofit Leadership; Heather Gowdy, La Piana Consulting; Cindy Bailie, The Foundation Center; Robert Ottenhoff, CEO of GuideStar USA and many more.

Program presenters represent all sectors of philanthropy, including Michigan-based experts from the Michigan Nonprofit Association and the W.K. Kellogg Foundation. Three officers of the Kellogg Foundation —  Alice Warner, Jocelyn Sargent, and Alandra Washington — will discuss the foundation’s racial equity approach and how it ties to the capacity of nonprofits to better identify and solve problems.

The Johnson Center is a university-based academic center serving nonprofits, foundations, and others that seek to transform their communities for the common good, and is adapting constantly to changing conditions. This is done through applied research, professional development, and the advancement of social technologies.
