High school students showcase sustainable ideas at GVSU event

West Michigan high school students will display projects and ideas about energy and sustainability at Grand Valley State University’s Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Energy Fair on February 24.

Twenty-three teams of students from the Kent Career Technical Center and Lowell High School will share their ideas with community members and judges, and will have the chance to win cash prizes.

“These students have great ideas and we want to provide an opportunity for them to showcase their ideas,” said Leslie Bateman, director of Professional Development Partnerships and Continuing Education at Grand Valley. “We hope this experience excites them about attending college.”

The event is co-sponsored by Grand Valley’s School of Engineering, Michigan Alternative and Renewable Energy Center and Continuing Education program. Teams will be awarded cash prizes in categories such as Best in Show, Most Innovative and Most Applicable to a Home or Business Setting.
