Hundreds of students interview with accounting firms
More than 200 Grand Valley State University accounting students
interviewed with dozens of employers for internship and employment positions.
Representatives from 24 firms and companies, including Ernst and
Young, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Plante Moran, Whirlpool and BDO
interviewed the students at the Eberhard Center on Grand Valley’s Pew
Grand Rapids Campus.
“The number of employers attending is a sign of a strong demand
for accountants and a response to the strength of the GVSU accounting
program,” said Rita Grant, associate professor of accounting. “For the
2011 Certified Public Accountant (CPA) exam, Grand Valley students
pass rate ranked 19th in the country for large programs, which puts
the university in the top five percent.”
The Accounting Pre-Recruiting Event, sponsored by Beta Alpha
Psi, gave students a chance to talk with local, midsize and national
accounting firms and corporations, for tax and audit internships and
full-time positions.
