Photos: Progress continues on L. William Seidman Center

Construction efforts on Grand Valley's new L. William Seidman Center are in full swing as mild winter weather continues throughout West Michigan.

Work on the site along Front Avenue in Grand Rapids has been ongoing since the groundbreaking ceremony in May of 2011.

Construction of the Seidman Center will be a major investment in the downtown Grand Rapids area, totaling $40 million in land acquisition, site preparation, construction and infrastructure improvement costs.

The new Seidman Center will support the Seidman College of Business’ growing reputation as the premier business school in the Midwest. It will also house the Small Business and Technology Development Center, a federal/state/Grand Valley-sponsored program that creates and sustains jobs across Michigan.

The project's designer is Robert A Stern Architects, LLP, an internationally recognized firm known for attention to detail and a commitment to design quality. Local firms Integrated Architecture and Pioneer Construction will be part of the project as well.

The building will be Grand Valley’s 16th LEED-certified building. Grand Valley is nationally recognized for being a “green college” and the building will contribute to that reputation by promoting water and energy conservation, recycled and locally manufactured materials and indoor air quality.
