Patti Solis Doyle, campaign manager for Hillary Clinton in 2008, was the first Hispanic woman to lead a presidential campaign. She will give a presentation on Wednesday, October 3, as part of the Professional of Color Lecture Series sponsored by the Office of Multicultural Affairs.

Solis Doyle’s presentation, “Women and Minorities in the Political Arena,” will take place from 4-5:30 p.m. in the Cook DeWitt Center on the Allendale Campus. She will discuss why there aren’t many female campaign managers and fewer people of color in those roles.

In her role as campaign manager for Clinton, Solis Doyle worked to promote policies on children, health care and women’s issues. She was honored by Hispanic Magazine with the “2007 Latinas of Excellence Award,” and Hispanic Business Magazine named her one of America’s 100 Most Influential Hispanics.

The event is in conjunction with Hispanic Heritage Month and is free and open to the public. For more information, visit www.gvsu.edu/oma.
