State Treasurer and former speaker of the Michigan House of Representatives Andy Dillon will be the next speaker at the Wheelhouse Talks, sponsored by Grand Valley State University’s Hauenstein Center for Presidential Studies.

Dillon, a well-known politician, policymaker and cabinet member of Gov. Rick Snyder, will speak about his leadership philosophy and his experience in politics and the corporate world. Dillon is also known for his 2010 attempt at the Democratic nomination for governor, which he lost to Lansing Mayor Virg Bernero. While he served in the House, he represented a portion of Wayne County that included Redford Township, a portion of Dearborn Heights, and the eastern section of Livonia.

“We are fortunate to have a public servant of Andy Dillon’s caliber address the Leadership Academy,” said Gleaves Whitney, director of the Hauenstein Center for Presidential Studies. “Dillon has a wealth of experience, including the ability to work on both sides of the aisle. He is a champion of the kind of bipartisan public service we desperately need today.”

Dillon’s presentation will take place on February 1, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the Kroc Community Center, 2500 S. Division, Grand Rapids. RSVP for the event at www.allpresidents.org.
