Student volunteers are sought to help at the sixth annual Free
Health Fair, sponsored by the Asian Center and set for October 20 in
Grand Rapids.
Rosa Luo, a graduate student majoring in biostatistics, is in
charge of recruiting volunteers for the event. “We want to have 30
volunteers for each day,” said Luo. “Saturday is the event, but on
Friday we need to set up the tables and collect the chairs.”
The health fair provides free basic medical services to people
without health insurance. Grand Valley’s Kirkhof College of Nursing is
among the sponsors of the event.
Luo said there are many volunteer jobs available, including set
up and tear down, photography and visual/audio assistance.
“We have different volunteer jobs like greeting people and
handing out forms,” said Luo. “We need interpreters to translate
because some of the people are not very good at English.”
The fair will run from 9 a.m.-noon, October 20, at the
Centerpointe Mall, 3665 28th St. in Grand Rapids. For more information
or to volunteer, send Luo an email at [email protected] or
call (616) 301-3987.
