'Welcome Home' 5K will recognize veterans

The Student Veterans Organization and WGVU will host a 5K run/walk
on the Allendale Campus to celebrate veterans and their families.
Students, faculty and staff members, family members and the
public are encouraged to participate in the third annual “Welcome Home
5K,” which will take place on Sunday, March 25, at 2 p.m. Free
registration will open at noon by the flags outside of the Student
Services Building.
New this year will be a display of the LZ Michigan Vietnam Big
Map, a 50 feet by 70 feet map of the Vietnam area with veterans’
signatures and messages to fallen soldiers near the location they
served. The map will be on display from noon-4 p.m. in the Fieldhouse.
Free screenings of the award-winning documentary “LZ Michigan: A
Journey Home” will take place from noon-4 p.m. in the Fieldhouse.
The event is co-sponsored by Grand Valley’s Health and Wellness
office, WGVU Engage and LZ Michigan.
