Beckering Carillon concerts to begin

The 13th Annual Beckering Family Carillon International Concert Series opens July 10, on the Lacks International Plaza, DeVos Center, Pew Grand Rapids Campus, 401 Fulton Street West. Performances of free open-air concerts by internationally renowned carillonneurs are scheduled at noon each Wednesday in July.

The series kick off with a performance by Linda Dzuris, from Clemson University, in South Carolina. Dzuris became Clemson’s first University Carillonneur in 1999 and is a tenured associate professor of music in the Department of Performing Arts. She has been a featured guest artist in carillon concert series throughout the U.S. and the Netherlands.

Additional performances include: July 17 - Sue Bergren, Illinois; July 24 - Laura Ellis, University of Florida; and July 31 – Gijsbert Kok, the Netherlands.

The 19th Annual Cook Carillon International Concert Series, on the Allendale Campus, continues each Sunday, at 8 p.m. through August 18.
