Best-selling author to visit Meijer Campus
Best-selling author Zoë Ferraris moved to Saudi Arabia with her
former husband after the first Gulf War in 1991. She experienced life
in a conservative, closed Muslim community with her daughter, which is
the setting for her award-winning trilogy series.
Ferraris, whose family lives in Holland, will give a
presentation about her experiences in Saudi Arabia and her books on
July 25, from 3:30-5 p.m. on the Grand Valley Meijer Campus in
Holland.
After returning to the U.S. from Saudi Arabia, Ferraris attended
Columbia University where she received a master’s degree in writing.
Her first novel Finding Nouf, and the follow-up novel,
City of Veils, are international best-sellers that have
been published in more than 35 countries. Her third novel, Kingdom
of Strangers, was published in June of 2012 and was an Oprah’s
Editor’s Pick. She is a recipient of the LA Times Book Award and LAL
Alex Award, and was selected as a Barnes and Noble Discover a New
Writer Choice.
Her visit is held in conjunction with the Grand Valley Women’s
Center, Center for Women in Transition, and the Woman’s Advisory
Network, founded by Carla Masselink and Ilse Saewert of MKS Wealth
Advisors of Raymond James.
The event is free and open to the public. RSVP to Jo Ann
Wassenaar in the Women’s Center at [email protected] or (616)
331-2748.
