As students returned to campus this fall, they found a new area in
Fresh Food Co. — the Healthy for Life literature display.
The display will offer a variety of information, designed to
make it easier for students to select balanced food choices and learn
how to establish and maintain healthy eating habits.
More than 75 percent of students surveyed online in a nationwide
Aramark survey indicated they are being careful about what they eat
and want to know how to make better nutritional and lifestyle choices.
“Students are thinking differently about their menu choices and
are actively seeking information about how nutrition impacts their
health,” said Tom Minor, general manager of Campus Dining at Grand
Valley. “Healthy for Life helps students gain a better understanding
of food, and empowers them to make the choices that will ultimately
help them live healthier lives.”
In addition to the new display, Campus Dining is also
encouraging students to submit their feedback about their Grand Valley
dining experience online or on their mobile device at www.campusdiningvoice.com.
This year, the mobile version of the survey is shorter and takes 4-6
minutes to complete. Those who complete the national survey will have
chances to win a cash prize.
The Healthy for Life program has been piloted at more than 30
colleges and universities.
