Campus events will honor César Chávez

A silent march and keynote address at Grand Valley are planned to honor César E. Chávez on Wednesday, March 20.

The silent march will begin at 1:30 p.m. in front of Zumberge Library, and a keynote address by Mark Kamimura-Jimenez will take place from 2-3 p.m. in the Grand River Room of the Kirkhof Center. A reception will follow Kamimura-Jimenez’s presentation, “Camina Conmigo: Navigating the Latino Educational Pipeline.”

Kamimura-Jimenez, director of Graduate Student Success for Rackham Graduate School at the University of Michigan, has worked for Cal State Fullerton where he served as director of Educational Partnerships, the first position of its kind in the California university system. He has degrees from Columbia University, University of Michigan and University of California, Irvine. He is co-editor and author of the book Latina/o Pathway to the PhD: Abriendo Caminos.
