Campus Rec launches online personal training program
Skype isn’t just for chatting with friends; students, faculty, staff
and alumni can now meet with an exercise technician to review health
history, set wellness-related goals and receive a physical activity
plan — all from the comforts of their home using UFit-V.
Previously, the UFit program was a process to create a customized
fitness plan with an exercise technician at the Fitness and Wellness
Center, said Dustin Mier, wellness coordinator of Campus Recreation.
The new virtual component was added to serve people who may not be
able to visit the Rec Center for the in-person program.
“Instead of just being able to help people in the Allendale area,
we can now potentially work with anyone in the world who has an
Internet connection,” Mier said.
UFit-V, and the in-person UFit, is available for anyone looking
to improve three general areas: physical activity, diet/nutrition, and
stress/lifestyle management.
The cost of the UFit-V/UFit program is $50 for three sessions;
students and alumni receive a 20 percent discount. After registering,
students will meet with a fitness technician on Skype or ooVoo for
three appointments.
