Cardboard arcade serves as fundraiser

Students will host an outdoor cardboard arcade inspired by the short film “Cain’s Arcade,” and invite the community to play games.
Students from three classes will join others worldwide in a global challenge to engage 1 million people in creative play.
The GVSU cardboard challenge is scheduled for Friday, October 4, from 9-11:30 a.m. near the Cook Carillon Tower on the Allendale Campus. John Kilbourne, professor of movement science, said students from liberal studies classes and an Honors College seminar course have built about 25 cardboard games.
Tickets will be sold to people who want to play: $1 for two tickets, or $2 for a fun pass with unlimited play. Money raised from the event will benefit the Imagination Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering and funding creativity and entrepreneurship.
Grand Valley’s event is a collaboration among the Honors College, Liberal Studies, and the Movement Science House Living & Learning Center.
