Chemical test drill successful

Local emergency responders used Grand Valley State University’s Allendale Campus to take part in a discussion session and chemical suicide test drill.

Thirty-two first responders from Ottawa and Muskegon counties participated in the drill May 9, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in parking lot D, including the Ottawa County Hazmat Team along with EMS and the Allendale Fire, Grand Valley Police and Ottawa County Sheriff's departments.

Brandon DeHaan, assistant director of the Grand Valley Police Department, said the training component and live exercise were successful.
