Events planned for Month of the Young Child
The Children’s Enrichment Center will host a variety of events
throughout April to celebrate the Month of Young Child. The
celebration aims to raise awareness about relevant issues impacting
young children and families.
To raise awareness about students who are parents, the center,
located on the Allendale Campus, will host “Still...Walking the Talk”
on Friday, April 19, from 11:30 a.m.-12:15 p.m. CEC Director Sharalle
Arnold, staff members and children will walk on campus to raise
awareness about the importance of having quality childcare for student
parents. The event is cosponsored by the Student Parent Club and is
open to the campus community; the deadline to register is April 2 on
the CEC website.
A clothing drive to benefit the YWCA in Grand Rapids will take
place from April 8-12. Donations can be dropped off at the Children’s
Enrichment Center.
The annual children’s art show and reception will take place on
Thursday, April 18, from noon-1 p.m. in the Kirkhof Center, room 2263.
A workshop for students, faculty and staff members who are dads
will take place on Tuesday, April 23, from noon-1 p.m. in the Kirkhof
Center, room 2264.

Month of the Young Child was created by the National Association
for the Education of Young Children to support early childhood growth
and development. This is the fourth year the Children’s Enrichment
Center will participate in the national celebration.
The Children’s Enrichment Center is celebrating its 40th
anniversary during the 2012-2013 academic year. Formally called the
Children’s Center, the center provides early care and education for
children of student parents, faculty and staff members, and community members.
