Opening day of the Grand Valley Farmers Market is June 5 in parking lot H.

Did you know it takes 900 steps, or seven minutes, to walk to Grand Valley's Farmers Market from Lake Michigan Hall?

Market attendees will be walking to a new spot this year. Because of campus construction, the market will be in parking lot H, next to the Children’s Enrichment Center. Opening day is Wednesday, June 5.

Walkers from Mackinac Hall will take 1,000 steps to get to the market; those from Kirkhof Center need only 600 to get there.

The June 5 market will include contestants in the Summer Grill Challenge, a contest among three faculty and staff members to see who is the grillmaster. Participants can purchase samples from the grillers and side items from Campus Dining for $6.

The market will continue on Wednesdays through September 25; hours are 10 a.m.-1:30 p.m. More information about the market is online at www.gvsu.edu/farmersmarket.
