Eighth-grade students from Grand Valley State University-authorized charter schools will have an opportunity to tour campus as part of a program designed to get students thinking about what they need to do to be able to attend college.
The program will bring the students to campus for small-group activities and personalized tours with Grand Valley student ambassadors based upon student interests. It will also provide students with information about courses to take to be college ready, along with information about the university.
“The earlier students get to visit a college campus, the more they view college as a goal they can reach,” said Amirah Vosburgh, manager of programs and marketing for the Charter Schools Office.
The will run through May. Eleven schools have signed up for the program, but a few spots are still open. Similar programs will be available to 11th-grade students in the fall.
