Hauenstein Center event to examine significant conservative writing, 60 years later

Still considered his seminal work more than half a century after it was first published, Russell Kirk’s “The Conservative Mind” will be the focus of a discussion at an event hosted by Grand Valley State University’s Hauenstein Center for Presidential Studies and the Intercollegiate Studies Institute.

“The Conservative Mind at 60” will take place Saturday, November 9, from 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. in Grand Valley’s L.V. Eberhard Center on the Pew Grand Rapids Campus.

The conference will focus on Kirk’s thoughts on the tradition of modern political conservatism, and if they can maintain relevance in the age of modern politics. Speakers will include Hauenstein Center director Gleaves Whitney, associate professor of law at Ohio Northern University Bruce Frohnen, and editor of the University Bookman Gerald Russello. Complimentary breakfast and lunch will be served, but registration is requested at hauensteincenter.org.
