Hauenstein Center, partners to host noted presidential author

Grand Valley State University’s Hauenstein Center for Presidential Studies, along with the Gerald R. Ford Foundation and Museum and the Acton Institute, will host noted presidential author and Forbes columnist Amity Shlaes at an event on November 21.

Shlaes will present a provocative examination of Calvin Coolidge and the decade of unparalleled growth that the nation saw under his leadership, and will discuss what qualities the 30th president had that could help modern-day politicians.

The event is part of the Hauenstein Center’s American Conversations series, which features speakers and topics that center on the theme of finding common ground. 

Shlaes is a syndicated columnist and currently writes for Forbes. She also directs the Four Percent Growth Project at the Bush Center, and is also the Chairman of the Board of the Calvin Coolidge Memorial Foundation.
