Hauenstein Center to host first Coffeehouse Debate on Election Day

The Hauenstein Center for Presidential Studies will host its first Coffeehouse Debate on Tuesday, November 5. The Election Day debate will focus on the role of government in society and try to answer the question, “Has government gotten too big?”

The program will be held from 2 -3 p.m. in the Forum Room of the L. William Seidman Center on Grand Valley’s Pew Grand Rapids Campus.

The Coffeehouse Debate is part of the Hauenstein Center’s Common Ground Initiative, and will feature viewpoints from Donijo Robbins, professor of public finance, and Mark Hoffman, associate professor of public administration and the director of SPNHA.

Robbins and Hoffman will discuss the size and scope of the federal government today, and explore the possibilities of compromise and common ground between liberals and conservatives.
