Laker head athletic trainer Mark Stoessner received regional honors for his dedication to student athletes and the profession.

The Great Lakes Athletic Trainers' Association presented Stoessner with the Dedicated Service Award.

In addition to overseeing care for 550 student-athletes at Grand Valley, Stoessner keeps up with legislative policies that affect athletic trainers as the president of the Michigan Athletic Trainers’ Society.

Stoessner was named head athletic trainer at Grand Valley in 2007. He worked in similar positions at Northern Michigan University and University of Michigan.

The GLATA Dedicated Service Award is intended to recognize those members who have demonstrated a superior level of excellence in assisting the executive committee in furthering the goals and vision of the association’s leadership.
