Campus Recreation is partnering with a variety of campus offices to
host a semester-long film series that addresses health issues and
wellness.
The first meeting of the four-part series will take place on
September 25 from 4-5:30 p.m. in room 2270 of the Kirkhof Center. A
segment of the documentary “The Weight of the Nation” will be shown
and a small group discussion will follow.
The documentary explores the issue of obesity and its
contributing factors and possible solutions. It examines the driving
forces causing the obesity epidemic, including agriculture, changing
food production, farming policy, economics, food marketing and
physical inactivity.
The film series is open to all students, including those in the
Health Issues theme. The event is approved for LIB 100 and 201
classes. Registration is encouraged for each meeting of the series at
www.gvsu.edu/rec/registration-index.htm.
All four parts of the series will be shown in room 2270 of the
Kirkhof Center:
- October 9, 4-5:30 p.m.: Unnatural Causes - Place Matters
- October 30, 4-5:30 p.m.: Sick Around the World
- November 13,
