Pew Wolters appointed to GVSU Board
Gov. Rick Snyder announced the appointment of Kate Pew Wolters to
the Grand Valley State University Board of Trustees. Pew Wolters will
fill a vacancy created by the resignation of Sue Carnell; Pew Wolters
will serve the remainder of an eight-year term that expires Dec. 31,
2016, and her appointment is subject to the advice and consent of the
state Senate.
Pew Wolters was a member of Grand Valley’s Board of Trustees
from 2005-2012. “Kate has shown great dedication to Grand Valley State
University and the Grand Rapids community,” said Snyder. “I appreciate
her willingness to serve in this role.”
Pew Wolters is a member of Steelcase Inc.’s Board of Directors
and chair of the Steelcase Foundation, where she previously served as
executive director. She is also president of the Kate and Richard
Wolters Foundation. Pew Wolters has a bachelor’s degree from Aquinas
College and a master’s degree from Michigan State University.
“We are happy to welcome Kate back to the Board,” said President
Thomas J. Haas. “We are delighted she will be on hand in an official
capacity when we open our new Mary Idema Pew Library Learning and
Information Commons, named for her mother.”
