More than 1,000 Grand Valley State University students participated
in the winter commencement ceremony December 7 at Van Andel Arena.
Students heard an address from Hank Meijer, co-chair and
co-chief executive officer for Meijer Inc.
The Alumni Association presented two awards. Kevin Lehnert,
professor of marketing, received the Outstanding Educator Award; and
Linda Scott, ‘95, chief academic officer at the University of Illinois
at Chicago College of Nursing, received the Distinguished Alumni Award.
Contemporary artist Cyril Lixenberg received an honorary degree.
Lixenberg, known for his sculptures and graphic prints, has a long
history of involvement with West Michigan art communities.
