Roxane Gay, an author of fiction, nonfiction and poetry, kicks off
the Grand Valley State University Writers Series of free events.
Her appearance, Tuesday, October 1, on the Allendale Campus,
will include several opportunities for students, faculty and the
public:

Gay’s writing has appeared or is forthcoming in Best
American Short Stories 2012, Best Sex Writing 2012, Oxford American,
American Short Fiction, Virginia Quarterly Review, NOON, The New
York Times Book Review, The Rumpus, Salon, The Wall Street
Journal, and many other publications.
Her novel, An Untamed State, will be published by Grove
Atlantic and her essay collection, Bad Feminist, will be
published by Harper Perennial, both in 2014.
Upcoming in the series are: Jenni Lamb, November 19; Grand
Valley Faculty Reading by Amorak Huey and Caitlin Horrocks, January
28; Caroline Maun, February 24; and Samrat Upadhyay, March 27.
