Alumna to compete on Jeopardy
It’s probably safe to say that Jen Fiero could beat us all at Trivial Pursuit.
Tonight’s episode of “Jeopardy” will feature the alumna who graduated in 2007 with a degree in Spanish and international relations. She was named the champ of the July 10 episode after winning the “Final Jeopardy!” round.
The show will air in West Michigan on Friday, July 11, at 7:30 pm on WWMT-TV.
Fiero, a library associate for Jackson College, said she was chosen to be a contestant after taking an online test that is offered once a year and attending an in-person audition.
“Some people I auditioned with had been working to be on the show for 10 years or more,” she said. “They only select 10 percent of the people who take the test audition, so it was really fun to make it that far.”
A month before the taping in March, Fiero got a call that she was chosen to be a contestant. She prepared by visiting trivia quiz websites, and watching Jeopardy episodes and “Crash Course World History” videos on YouTube.
“I mostly just relied on my existing trivia knowledge,” she said. “I figured that was what got me there in the first place, and I just wanted to relax and have fun!”
Fiero received a master’s degree in library and information science from Wayne State University.
