Alumni offered U.S. Student Fulbright scholarships
Four Grand Valley alumni have been selected to serve as English Teaching Assistants for the 2014-15 Fulbright U.S. Student Program cycle.
The alumni selected for the program include:
Erin Lutenski, `13, German/Applied Linguistics, from Port Huron, will teach in Germany
Hayley Pangle, `13, History/Anthropology, from Grand Rapids, will teach in Azerbaijan
Kathryn Phelan, `11, International Relations/Spanish, from Jackson, will teach in Brazil
Anne Giocondini, `14, English-Secondary Teaching, from Grand Rapids, will teach in Ukraine
The Fulbright English Teaching Assistant programs place grantees in schools overseas to supplement local English language instruction and to provide a native speaker presence in the classrooms. The Fulbright U.S. Student Program also offers other types of grants, including study/research and travel grants. Graduating seniors and alumni who are interested in applying for the U.S. Student Fulbright Program to serve as an English Teaching Assistant or to conduct study/research should contact Amanda Cuevas, director of the Frederik Meijer Office of Fellowships at [email protected], (616) 331-2699, or by visiting 230 Mary Idema Pew Library. Applications for the 2015-16 academic year open May 1. The deadline is September 26.
