Civic Studio will host Formed Histories: a guided spatial tour of
the West Side of Grand Rapids. The tour will depart from Civic
Studio’s current project space, Showroom, 428 Bridge St., on Monday,
April 7 at 5:30pm. The tour is free, open to the public, and all ages.
Site-specific projects produced by Civic Studio will compliment
a curated tour of important sites from local history on the West Side.
These projects are meant to re-imagine life 100 years ago, making
connections between the past, present, and future of the city.
Highlights of the tour include explorations of the rich history
of labor, the former canal, and what lies below the highway. In
addition, these site-specific projects will engage tour participants
in an interactive, educational, and playful experience.
