The first African American man to graduate from Grand Valley, James Moore, will share his insights and experiences during an event hosted by the Division of Inclusion and Equity.
“Pioneering Pathways for Students of Color” will be held Wednesday, February 5, 5:30-8 p.m. at the Alumni House. Sean Huddleston, assistant vice president for strategic implementation, said Moore, a member of the Pioneer Class of 1967, will talk about his experiences at Grand Valley and give advice to students on how to create their own pathways and legacies.
Dinner will be served; students and faculty and staff members interested in attending are asked to RSVP by January 27 by sending an email to [email protected].
The dinner precedes the annual faculty convocation when the first
Burch, Jacobs and Moore Diversity Teaching Excellence Award will be
presented. Sponsored by the Faculty Teaching Learning Center, the
award honors Moore and his classmates Annie Jacobs and Joan Burch.
