Faculty member to discuss renewable energy in Africa

The challenges and opportunities associated with renewable energy
investment in Africa will be discussed at an Energy Climate Speaker
Series event February 11.
Erik Nordman, professor of natural resources management at Grand
Valley, will give a presentation, “Africa! The Next Renewable Energy
Frontier,” at noon at the Michigan Alternative and Renewable Energy
Center in Muskegon and at 6:30 p.m. at the L. William Seidman Center
in Grand Rapids.
In 2012, Nordman was awarded a Fulbright Scholar grant to teach
and conduct renewable energy research at Kenyatta University in
Nairobi, Kenya. A New York native, he has a bachelor’s degree,
master’s degree and doctorate in biology from the SUNY College of
Environmental Science and Forestry in Syracuse.
The final event in the four-part series, hosted by MAREC, will
take place on March 11. Kim Walton, program director for MAREC, will
discuss global sustainable energy goals.
