The campus community can help students on #GivingTuesday this year by donating to the Student Textbook and Supplies Fund.

#GivingTuesday is a national campaign dedicated to giving back. Set for December 2, it follows two big shopping days: Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

Leah Bekins, director of annual giving, said this opportunity is a great example of how one person can make a difference.

“#GivingTuesday allows us to look beyond the rush of this time of year and focus on our legacy and the kind of impact a single individual can make when multiplied by the masses,” Bekins said.

The Student Textbook and Supplies Fund is administered by Financial Aid to students who, for lack of funds, are unable to purchase one or more of their required textbooks, course materials or school supplies.

Bekins said alumni leaders started the initiative by raising more than $13,000 for textbooks and supplies.
The goal for #GivingTuesday, she added, is to raise $7,000, to reach a fund goal of $20,000 by midnight on December 2.
