Laker athletics was named tops in NCAA Division II for the ninth time in
the last 11 years.
For the ninth time in the last 11 years, Grand Valley was honored for
having the top athletic program among NCAA Division II institutions.
Grand Valley earned the Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup June 4 by
scoring 1,030 points in 14 varsity sports. The scoring system is based
on the national finishes of seven men’s and seven women’s sports.
Second place went to West Texas A&M with 708 points, followed
by Central Missouri with 653.75 points.
The Lakers had 17 teams in postseason play during the last
academic year, with women’s soccer and women’s cross country winning
national championships.
