A gathering June 23 invites community members and business leaders
to discuss how Muskegon County can become a part of the state’s effort
to become a recycling leader.
“Recycling as an Economic Driver” will take place from 3-5 p.m.
at Grand Valley State University’s Michigan Alternative and Renewable
Energy Center, 200 Viridian Dr., in Muskegon.
Arn Boezaart, director of MAREC, said the gathering will be open
to anyone, especially those who live in Lakeshore communities and the
Grand Rapids area, including municipal, school and community leaders.
The forum will focus on residential, institutional and business
waste efforts. The Muskegon Area Sustainability Coalition will
organize a panel of representatives from Local First, Fleet Engineers,
Michigan DEQ, and Public Works for Kent and Emmet counties.
The gathering comes after Gov. Rick Snyder announced in April a
statewide plan designed to increase residential recycling access statewide.
