Middle East Studies, student organizations and area colleges will host a screening of a film by Maurice Jacobsen, a Grand Rapids native who spent 16 months in the Gaza Strip.
His film, “We All Live in Gaza,” is based on footage he captured during Israel’s recent military campaigns against the Palestinian territory. Two screenings are planned on Tuesday, September 16: noon in Kirkhof Center, room 2263; and 7 p.m. in Lake Michigan Hall, room 114.
The event is free and open to the public. Jacobsen will be at both screenings to answer questions. The film highlights how ordinary Gazans cope with Israel’s eight-year old blockade of the Strip. It accompanies Jacobsen’s ArtPrize exhibit, which will be installed at Fountain Street Church in Grand Rapids.
This event is co-sponsored by Peace MEans, Calvin College History
Department, Calvin College Middle East Club, and Hope Equals. For more
