Model Arab League convenes
Grand Valley will host the Michigan Model Arab League on Thursday
and Friday, February 13-14.
Sponsored by Middle East Studies, College of Liberal Arts and
Sciences, Modern Languages and Literatures, and Padnos International
Center, the event will bring in students and faculty members from nine
other institutions.
The event helps students learn first-hand about the politics and
history of the Arab world, and the arts of diplomacy and public speech
as participants role play as delegates from the 23 member states of
the Arab League. In addition to committee meetings, scheduled
activities include a guest speaker and a Middle Eastern dinner and entertainment.
Ali Younes, CNN correspondent, will give a keynote address on
the Arab Spring at 1 p.m. on Thursday in the Kirkhof Center, Grand
River Room. The campus community is invited to attend.
Model Arab League is supported by the National Council on
US-Arab Relations.
