More than 600 alumni, students, faculty and staff members helped more than 6,000 new and returning students move into living centers August 18-20.
Grand Valley President Thomas J. Haas, his wife Marcia Haas, and Trustee Shelley Padnos served ice cream to families and new students August 20 near Kleiner Commons.
There are a variety of events planned to kick off the new year, including Haas’ Faculty and Staff Opening Address, Convocation and the All-Campus Picnic starting at 10 a.m. on August 22.

Laker for a Lifetime Kickoff Party: August 20, 9-11 p.m., Parking Lot C. All students, faculty and staff members are invited to teach new students what it means to be a Laker for a Lifetime. There will be music, dancing, games, refreshments and a special gift for every new Laker.
Laker Fan Fest: August 21, 5-7 p.m., Kelly Family Sports Center. Students can tour facilities and meet members of Laker sports teams.
Back to School Bash : August 23, noon-7 p.m., Kirkhof Center. Students can enjoy an outdoor concert with food and entertainment.
