Play Day will keep the stress away

The University Counseling Center is hosting its first ever Play Day, just in time for midterms.

The event will take place on Monday, October 6, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. in the Kirkhof Center Lounge, across from the pool tables.

Students are encouraged to take a break from studying and experience the benefits of play. According to the Counseling Center, research indicates that people who take the time to play, perform better academically and are better able to manage stress.

“We hope to provide education about the idea of playfulness and its benefits in the long run,” said Melissa Selby-Theut, coordinator of Outreach and Peer Education for the University Counseling Center.

Students, faculty and staff are welcome to stop by anytime between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. and stay for as long as they need. Those attending the event can expect popcorn, balloon animals, hula-hoops, a make-your-own stress ball craft, play dough and a coloring station.
